Learning from a Mentor is a valuable benefit to any young professional’s career
Being a Mentor is a satisfying way to give back to your profession
TMS encourages this beneficial relationship between mentors and mentees through programs specifically designed to match promising young professionals with more established individuals working in their fields. These programs include:
Meet a Mentor Event
Held as part of the TMS Annual Meeting & Exhibition, this event allows young professionals (mentees) to meet with more established professionals (mentors) working in all areas of the minerals, metals, and materials fields. Mentees are able to review biographies of participating mentors and to request the mentors they would most like to meet.

TMS 101 Session
Each year at the TMS Annual Meeting & Exhibition, TMS holds a “TMS101: Fundamentals of TMS” information session, designed to help new members, international members, and graduate students learn how the TMS volunteer infrastructure operates and how to take advantage of the networking opportunities available through engagement in the TMS technical division and committee structure.
