Scope: The emergence of additive manufacturing (AM) in the past decade has enabled several new and exciting developments in the field of net-shaped processing. This topic concentrates on advanced AM materials and processes in research and industry. The focus is on AM techniques for realizing composites and other complex materials, with 3D materials science as the vision. Papers are invited that consider AM methods as a tool for complete spatial control of local material compositions, microstructures and properties, and transitions between these, thus allowing to transform integrated computational materials engineering (ICME) and design of materials into physical materials and products.
