Scope: Current battery recycling rates highly depend on the battery type and usage, as well as available technologies. Future battery recycling processes will be driven by novel battery chemistries and increasing worldwide demand, while subject to tighter environmental standards. This topic covers the fundamentals and latest developments in battery recycling including lead acid, nickel-cadmium, nickel-metal-hydride, and lithium ion batteries. Papers discussing applications of primary processes for the treatment of battery materials are also welcome.
