Scope: This topic covers the formation of structure, defects and properties during casting and solidification of aluminum and magnesium alloys, with technologies including shape, continuous, direct-chill casting and rapid solidification. The topic also covers new technological approaches to improve the quality of cast metal through optimization or changing of casting hardware or procedures. Both experimental and modelling papers are welcome for submission, though the modelling papers need to contain experimental validation.

To ensure sufficient time for peer review, papers will not be accepted after the posted manuscript submission deadline. Original research papers should be 3,000-9,000 words with up to 12 figures maximum; review papers should be 6,000-11,000 words with up to 20 figures maximum.
