Scope: Metallic nanoparticles especially those made of silver and gold are an emerging class of materials that exhibit unique and sensitive phenomena called “localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR)” that enables them to absorb and re-radiate photons when they are exposed to electromagnetic radiation. These nanoparticles appear to be ideal for a range of applications including imaging, sensing, and health care. This special topic will cover recent achievements in the design, fabrication, and application of plasmonic nanocomposites in different fields of science including material science, medicine, and industry, and it will cover their impact on global society
