TMS Publications Home

Information is the key to technological development, and The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society has been providing that key to materials scientists and engineers for more than 125 years.

TMS publishes journals, numerous conference proceedings volumes, textbooks, and videos designed to give materials scientists and engineers the current information on scientific and applied advances in areas as diverse as electronic materials, automotive manufacture, and extractive metallurgy.

TMS members receive a free JOM subscription, and also qualify for significant discounts on other journals and publications of the society.

Visit the Knowledge Resource Center to search the TMS publication library, review tables of contents, and purchase publications and journal subscriptions.

AUTHOR GUIDELINES

If you are interested in preparing a manuscript for submission to a TMS publication, visit the Author Guidelines page. Here, you will find all of the resources and instructions necessary to facilitate smooth submission, review, and publication.

JOM: THE MEMBER'S JOURNAL

JOM is TMS's interdisciplinary society journal that covers all aspects of materials science and engineering. Published monthly, JOM reports on work that explores the state of the art in processing, fabrication, design, and application of metals and other materials. Written for both academic and industrial audiences alike, JOM presents technical papers, general overviews, professional affairs articles, and news.

The web site includes tables of contents, selected hypertext articles, subject indexes, positions-available advertising, and more (all at no charge). Also featured are author guidelines. By visiting JOM in the Knowledge Resource Center, it is also possible to acquire articles as PDFs and to subscribe electronically (TMS members receive a complimentary print and electronic subscription to the journal). Additionally, recent issues of the journal are presented to TMS members and journal subscribers in page-turning format.

METALLURGICAL AND MATERIALS TRANSACTIONS

Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A and B are peer-reviewed archival journals published by TMS and ASM International. Issued monthly, A focuses on physical metallurgy and materials science. Published bimonthly, B focuses on process metallurgy and materials processing science.

The MMT web site contains author guidelines, tables of contents, author names, and paper abstracts (all at no charge).

JOURNAL OF ELECTRONIC MATERIALS

The Journal of Electronic Materials (JEM) is a monthly journal published by TMS and the Electronic Devices Society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. In archival fashion, JEM reports on the science and technology of electronic materials and examines their applications.

The web site provides tables of contents and abstracts for articles as well as author guidelines for manuscript submission (all at no charge).

TMS WEB EVENTS

TMS web events are presentations that provide timely technical updates as well as educational materials. They feature technical content presented with visuals and audio and may include videos and models for a multifaceted learning experience. Visit the TMS Web Events page for more details.

OTHER PUBLICATIONS

AIME IconThe American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers (AIME) is an overarching organization that comprises four technical societies. Individuals holding membership in one organization qualify for membership discounts on the products and services offered by the other three.

As TMS is a component of AIME, members may wish to explore the publication pages of the following societies: the Association of Iron & Steel Technology; the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration; and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

The AIME and its member societies have a long established relationship with the Linda Hall Library. The Linda Hall Library is located in Kansas City, Missouri, but it has a robust suite of on-line services. The library is recognized as one of the world’s leading collections of information on science, engineering, and technology. The library’s research and reference collections cover all time periods and subjects within the pure and applied sciences and mathematics, with the exception of clinical medicine.
