As this issue honors the 125th anniversary of the founding of the
American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers (AIME), the cover presents an original piece of art designed by Dane Semonian of TMS. The individuals presented in the art are (top) David Thomas, the first president of AIME, and (bottom) Herbert Hoover, who was AIME president in 1920--eight years before he was elected 31st president of the United States.
