JOM Book Review Submission Form
Through its on-line book review program, JOM publishes reviews of recently released books in the broad field of materials science and engineering.
BOOK REVIEW PROGRAM

If you are interested in reviewing a book for publication in JOM, visit the Book Review Participation form for details on how to participate.

Submit a completed review using the Book Review Submission form within 90 days of receiving your requested publication.

Use this form to submit your book review to JOM. You will be notified within two weeks of submitting the review as to its acceptability for publication. Please note, however, that even if a review is of publication quality, the editor reserves the right to decide when, how, and even if the review will be used.

BOOK REVIEW GUIDELINES

Please read the following guidelines prior to submitting your review.

  • Do not provide a mere rehash of the books table of contents.
  • The length of your review is limited to 500-750 words.
  • The review must consist of a critique that analyzes the timeliness, merit, structure, content, and overall value of the volume.
  • The review should define the technical scope of the book, although you are encouraged to elaborate on selected chapters or points that you find to be of special interest. As possible, compare the book to other recognized literature on the same subject.
  • Additionally, recommend an audience for the book (e.g., is it a textbook or is it better suited for the skilled practitioner?).
  • Provide a few words on the quality of the printing (Are the figures readable? Is the format appropriate? Is the text too small?).
