RFI Announced for Fiber Reinforced Polymer Composite Manufacturing
Posted on: 08/25/2013
The Advanced Manufacturing Office (AMO) of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) seeks information on research and development (R&D) needs, market challenges, and supply chains related to fiber-reinforced polymer composite manufacturing. AMO is particularly interested in identifying the R&D needs for the development of high speed, low cost, energy efficient manufacturing processes and strategies for recycling to reduce life cycle energy and greenhouse gas emissions.
The purpose of this Request for Information (RFI) is to solicit feedback from industry, academia, research laboratories, government agencies, and other stakeholders on issues related to fiber reinforced polymer composite manufacturing, specifically for continuous or discontinuous carbon and glass fiber composites with thermoset or thermoplastic matrix materials. Any information obtained as a result of this RFI is intended to be used by the U.S. government on a non-attribution basis for planning and strategy development. This RFI does not constitute a formal solicitation for proposals or abstracts. The deadline to submit responses is September 26.
