ARPA-E Awards EV Energy Storage Projects
Posted on: 10/13/2013
The Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) will award a total of $36 million in funding to more than 20 projects seeking to develop electric vehicle (EV) energy storage systems. ARPA-E’s new program, Robust Affordable Next Generation Energy Storage Systems (RANGE), aims to gain momentum for widespread EV adoption by dramatically improving driving range and reliability. The selected projects funded in the RANGE program will focus on 1) advanced, reliable, long-life aqueous batteries; 2) low-cost, multifunctional cells; 3) light-weight, robust, non-aqueous systems; and 4) novel, solid-state batteries.
Additional information on ARPA-E and its project portfolio are available at the links below. Please note that the U.S. Department of Energy websites will be accessible, but not updated, until Congress approves funds for Fiscal Year 2014.
