NIST Celebrates 100 Years of Metallurgy and Polymers

The Materials Science and Engineering Division of the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will celebrate its centennial with a special symposium on May 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the NIST Green Auditorium. Topics to be covered from NIST’s history include Metal Failure Breakthroughs, Precipitation Effects (Hardening, Softening, and World Trade Center Steels); Understanding of Amorphous Polymers; and Polymer Crystalization. The day includes a poster session, laboratory tours, and refreshments. Registration is free, but necessary, in order to access the NIST campus.
