Met. Trans. Annual Awards

TMS award winners constitute some of the most deserving recipients and the recognition of outstanding accomplishments by members of the international minerals, metals, and materials community is one of the primary objectives of TMS. Visit the TMS Honors and Awards page for more information and to submit an award nomination.

  • Champion H. Mathewson Award: This award recongizes a paper which represents a notable contribution in metallurgical or materials science. Paper must have been published in Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A or B or any other TMS publication within the three-year period preceding the award.
  • Marcus A. Grossmann Young Author Award: This award is made to an author whose age is less than 40 years on January 1 of year in which paper was published in Metallurgical and Materials Transactions. Papers must have been published in the preceding calendar year.
  • Henry Marion Howe Award: This is the oldest of the ASM awards and medals. Paper must have been published in the calendar year preceding that in which award is to be made.
