Location: Grand Hyatt San Antonio, Lonestar Ballroom B

Seasoned professionals representing a combination of academic, government, and industry backgrounds will lead small discussion groups of young professionals and students who are beginning their professional materials science and engineering careers. Mentors from a variety of technical, career, and social backgrounds will be on hand to answer questions and provide guidance and advice to mentees. Each mentee may select three discussion groups to join during this 90-minute program. Sign up today and make connections with mentors that will last beyond your time in San Antonio.

General topics to be discussed include:
  • Transitioning from student to professional
  • Working in a new city or country
  • Finding a work and life balance
  • Benefits of professional membership
  • Challenges for non-U.S. citizens working in the United States
  • Workplace communication

These are general topics that will be used in guiding the mentor discussion during the event. Mentees will also have ample opportunity to ask questions and seek guidance.

Please note, this event is NOT a job placement or interview program. It is designed to help young professionals identify their career interests, find direction, and develop relationships with those who have had similar experiences during their personal and professional endeavors.

The deadline to register for this event is March 4, 2019.
