Emergency Procedures
The chances of an emergency situation occurring at TMS2018 are quite small. However, being prepared to react effectively in case of an incident is the most critical step in ensuring the health and safety of yourself and those around you.
Know Your Surroundings
Please take a few moments to review the maps of the TMS2018 facilities, which will be printed in the at-meeting program and available on the TMS2018 App. When you enter these buildings, familiarize yourself with the exits and the stairs leading to those exits. When you arrive at your session or event location, look for the emergency exits that are in proximity to you.
53 Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) are distributed around the Phoenix Convention Center (PCC) campus. AED cabinets are alarmed and opening a cabinet will generate a response from Security. Take the time to locate the nearest AED to your location.
First Aid rooms are available on every exhibition level of the PCC.
How to Report an Emergency
Emergencies may be reported in one of three ways at the PCC:
- By calling House Security at 1-602-262-7271 or by dialing 85 from any house phone. House Security will call 9-1-1 for Phoenix Fire Department and/or Phoenix Police Department and coordinate their arrival.
- By calling 9-1-1 directly. If 9-1-1 is called directly, please inform the nearest security guard so that they can work with first responders to expedite their arrival.
- Contacting any PCC security guard or staff member.
Emergency Evacuation
Should the fire alarm sound, all attendees should immediately evacuate the building using the nearest exit. Move away from the building, at least across the street and await instructions.
Persons with disabilities should gather at ADA Assistance locations marked with blue signs if they require evacuation assistance.
Lockdown
The Convention Center is prepared to lockdown the campus in response to a threat outside the building. A lockdown is initiated with a building-wide announcement asking occupants to remain inside and providing information about the threat outside. Security and PCC staff members will staff and lock all exterior doors to prevent entry. Follow-up announcements will be made to keep everyone informed. Please note that staff and security will not physically prevent anyone from leaving the building during a lockdown.
