PRISMS Center Open Source Software Training Workshop

PLEASE NOTE: This course has been cancelled for TMS2020.

Scope

The Center for PRedictive Integrated Structural Materials Science (PRISMS) is creating a unique framework for accelerated predictive materials science. An important element of the PRISMS Center is the development of the PRISMS Software toolset, a powerful suite of massively parallel, open-source software capable of integrated multi-scale computational simulations for predicting microstructural evolution and mechanical behavior of metals and alloys. Under development for over seven years, these free software modules provide an advanced state-of-art computational capability for those involved in metals research. Specific modules include real-space DFT (DFT-FE), statistical mechanics (CASM), phase field (PRISMS-PF), and crystal plasticity finite element (PRISMS-Plasticity) simulation codes. These codes are all available free on github and have been downloaded by over 1,800 researchers. Another important element of the PRISMS Center is The Materials Commons, a knowledge repository and virtual collaboration space for archiving and disseminating materials information.

This workshop will provide an overview of all four PRISMS codes and the Materials Commons.

Who Should Attend?

Individuals involved in computational science and engineering in industry, universities, and government laboratories will benefit from attending this course.

Learning Objectives

Participants will become familiar with PRISMS software tools and Materials Commons and will gain the knowledge about when to use these tools.
