2021 TMS 150th Anniversary Badge

TMS’s origins as a professional society date back to 1871 with the founding of its parent society, The American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers (AIME).

As a member-driven society, the celebration of our 150th anniversary is really a celebration of our members and volunteers who serve at every level of the Society. It is a recognition of what they have developed in TMS: a dynamic, supportive, and inclusive community that is the “home society” for many minerals, metals & materials professionals around the world.

To honor that, TMS is engaging in year-long festivities that will commemorate historic milestones, celebrate current achievements, and look ahead to the future of the Society. The anniversary year will kick-off at the TMS2021 Annual Meeting & Exhibition, will be highlighted virtually throughout the year, and will conclude with in-person experiences at the TMS 2022 Annual Meeting & Exhibition.

To join in with these celebrations, TMS invites you to download and display the digital badges below in your e-mail signature or on social media to spread the word! You can also explore the history of TMS on our new history webpage.
