To our TMS2025 attendees:
TMS is again proud to offer the Fifth Summit on Diversity in the Minerals, Metals, and Materials Professions (DMMM5). An excellent program is planned for this year's summit. Recent events make TMS leadership aware, however, that registrants from the U.S. governmental sector may have concerns as to whether attending TMS2025 may constitute participating in “DEI” training either directly or indirectly or that participation in TMS2025 may be in violation of federal directives. TMS is confident that a registrant’s participation is not in violation of these directives.
Please be aware of the following:
- DMMM5 is but one symposium among more than 100 symposia offered at TMS2025. Registrants of TMS2025 are neither expected nor required to attend any of the programming in the DEI area.
- TMS2025 registrants attend only programming that is of interest to them and can easily avoid programming that is not. Participation in any program is not scripted by TMS but is completely at the individual discretion and decision of each registrant.
- A private breakfast will be held where DEI topics will be discussed. Access to this breakfast requires purchase of a separate ticket. No registrant is required to attend.
- No U.S. government entity is sponsoring DMMM5.
If helpful, TMS will gladly provide a letter to any prospective registrant’s organizational leadership explaining the construct of TMS2025 and the autonomy of registrants to self-guide themselves through the vast technical programming content that is offered on materials science and engineering. Such a letter may be promptly secured by contacting mtgserv@tms.org.
TMS looks forward to welcoming you to an exceptional TMS2025 in Las Vegas.
