The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU) are hiring faculty to support a broad initiative in advanced processing and manufacturing. In conjunction with that initiative, we seek applicants for multiple tenure-track/tenured faculty positions in the areas of, processing and manufacturing of advanced materials; design, and modeling/simulation. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, additive manufacturing of metallic and ceramic materials, innovative manufacturing approaches, integration of multiple materials in complex systems, and mechanics of architectured materials.
We seek applicants who will contribute to our programs and will leverage investments by the University in promoting interdisciplinary teaching and research. These investments include, among others, the Center for 4D Materials Science (https://4dms.engineering.asu.edu), the Flexible Electronics and Display Center (https://flexdisplay.asu.edu), Lightworks (https://sustainability.asu.edu/lightworks), and the Biodesign Institute (https://biodesign.asu.edu), along with academic programs across the University. The current openings are intended to broaden our expertise and expand collaborations.
Appointments will be at the assistant, associate or full professor rank commensurate with the candidate’s experience and accomplishments, beginning August 2018. Although the faculty appointment may be in any of the six Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, the Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering programs in the School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy are currently among the most involved in the interest areas of the search.
Faculty members are expected to develop an internationally recognized and externally funded research program, develop and teach graduate and undergraduate courses, advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and undertake service activities.
• Earned doctorate in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Demonstrated evidence of research capability
• Commitment to teaching excellence as appropriate to the candidate’s rank
• A commitment to a collaborative, transdisciplinary approach to research and teaching
