The abstract deadline for the TMS 2020 Annual Meeting & Exhibition (TMS2020) has been extended to July 15, giving you two more weeks to submit your work to the meeting that the global minerals, metals, and materials community calls home. TMS Presents the 2020 Board of Directors Nominees

The individuals highlighted here have been nominated to fill vacant positions on the TMS Board of Directors. The candidates, if elected by the TMS membership, will be installed at the conclusion of the TMS 2020 Annual Meeting & Exhibition, scheduled for February 23–27 in San Diego, California.

The nominees for the open positions on the 2020–2023 TMS Board of Directors are:

Additional nominations for these positions may be submitted for board consideration by any 25 TMS members by August 15, 2019. Nominations for qualified individuals should be sent to James J. Robinson, TMS Executive Director, and should include the nominee’s name, biography, and written consent to serve if elected. If additional candidates are proposed, a majority vote of TMS members will determine who fills the position. If no new nominations are received, the individuals named here will automatically be elected on August 16, 2019.


Register Soon for PE Exam Review Course

July 8 is the discount registration deadline for the TMS Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Professional Engineer (PE) Licensing Exam Review Course. Register this week and join us in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, August 14–17, to participate.

This course reviews exam specifications and knowledge areas for those preparing to take the next Metallurgical and Materials Engineering PE licensing exam on October 25, 2019. Participants will have the opportunity to practice and do group work on sample problems.

TMS also offers the Study Guide for Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) Exam-Metallurgical and Materials Engineering for those studying for the exam. This guide is free for TMS members and can be purchased for $39 by non-members.

More information on the exam itself can be found on the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) PE Exam website.

PE licensure is the preferred credential in the United States for engineers to bid on government contracts, be a principal of a firm, perform consulting services, and protect public health, safety, and welfare.
