Carter is the director of diversity and global inclusion at Newmont Mining Corporation. Her role was recently established to assist Newmont in being more strategic and targeted in their approach to diversity and global inclusion, because the company believes that these factors are critical drivers of their business performance, growth, employee engagement, innovation, and sustainability.

She is considered a "thought leader" in her field. Carter’s domestic and international experience includes helping Fortune 500 companies, professional services and law firms, profit and not-for-profit organizations, and government agencies to implement and manage large organizational diversity initiatives. Most recently, she worked at the Denver Public Schools, which serves a diverse population representative of 130 countries and their respective languages.

Carter holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management. She is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management, Catalyst, The Conference Board’s Council of Global Diversity and Inclusion Executives, Colorado Women’s Chamber, and The Urban League of Metro Denver.
