Chong is the vice president of materials, manufacturing, structures, and support in the Boeing Engineering, Operations &Technology organization. In this position, she leads the organization responsible for development and support of manufacturing processes and program integration for the Boeing enterprise. Prior to her current position, she was the director of materials and process technology for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Chong also was the director of strategic operations and business for IDS Engineering; and the department head/team leader of MSE, liaison, and process control groups within Phantom Works and Integrated Defense Systems.

Chong received B.S. degrees in biology and psychology, M.S. degrees in physiology and metallurgical engineering, and her Ph.D. in metallurgical engineering, all from the University of Illinois. She also completed an Executive Master of Manufacturing Management at Washington University.

Chong is a member of: TMS; the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA); ASM International, where she served as board of trustees president and is a Fellow; Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), where she was a board member; Society of Women Engineers (SWE); National Materials Advisory Board; and is a commissioner to the ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC). She has been recognized for managerial achievements and as a diversity change agent.
