2025 TMS Board of Directors

Clarissa Yablinsky
TMS Director/Chair, Structural Materials Division
Scientist, Los Alamos National Laboratory
Term:
03/27/2025 - 03/31/2028

Clarissa Yablinsky is a scientist on the Dynamic and Mechanical Testing Team within the Materials Science and Technology Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Over her career, she has worked to understand microstructure evolution in extremes, including high strain rate, high temperature, and irradiation environments. She currently works in the Nuclear Materials group, where she focuses on mechanical behavior of actinide materials over a range of temperature and strain rates. Yablinsky received her B.S. in materials science and engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 2004 and her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in materials science and engineering from The Ohio State University in 2007 and 2010, respectively. She was a research associate at the University of Wisconsin–Madison in the engineering physics department before joining LANL in 2013.

Yablinsky has been a TMS member since 2002, when she joined as a student. She began volunteering within functional committees and broadened her service to include technical committees in 2012 when she won the SMD Young Leaders Professional Development Award. She has been a member of the Nuclear Materials and Mechanical Behavior of Materials committees for over a decade and has served as both the JOM advisor and the chair of the Nuclear Materials Committee. Yablinsky has helped organize multiple symposia at the TMS Annual and MS&T meetings, such as Materials & Fuels for Current & Advanced Nuclear Reactors, Actinide and Lanthanide Materials, and Mechanical Behavior of Nuclear Reactor Components. She was recently the general chair for the Materials in Nuclear Energy Systems (MiNES) conference in 2023.
