This three-day virtual offering delivers concurrent short courses with tracks in machine learning, additive manufacturing, and lightweighting. With three crosscutting courses at one event, you can choose to focus on a specific topic in depth or mix and match topic modules to build your own curriculum.

Raymundo Arroyave

"TMS Learning Pathways is a unique opportunity to engage our members and provide them with timely, state-of-the-art content in areas of considerable activity within the TMS community, namely, machine learning-aided materials design, additive manufacturing, and lightweighting. Moreover, what I think is the most exciting aspect of the program is the cross-cutting section, in which we will be discussing how these different areas intersect and leverage from each other."

What You Will Learn

The overarching theme for the 2020 TMS Learning Pathways event is Advanced Materials Manufacturing. Attendees can choose sessions from among three short course tracks:

Machine Learning
Participants will learn different frameworks of data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence that can be used to discover and exploit process-structure-property relationships in materials.

Additive Manufacturing
Participants will gain key knowledge of common additive manufacturing processes and practices with an emphasis on understanding critical materials science and engineering problems and tools that can address them.

Lightweighting
Participants will strengthen their understanding of the fundamental elements of materials engineering design, properties, and manufacturing processes and how they can be used in lightweighting applications.

How You Will Learn

Introductory, intermediate, and advanced modules are offered for each simultaneous short course track. This gives you the opportunity to pick your entry point for any given topic and the ability to jump to the other topics to explore intersecting interests. In addition, the course notes and materials will be provided to each attendee for all modules, giving you three times the value of a single course.

Providing access to expert instructors engaged in three courses also provides opportunities for information exchange, so that you can make the most of your time.
