TMS COVID-19 Resource Portal

Opportunities to Connect, Render Assistance, and Stay Informed

The COVID-19 pandemic has created extraordinary challenges for the TMS community. Many of us are working, teaching, learning, and carrying on the important work of materials science and engineering in virtual settings while we manage the impact of this crisis on our personal lives. TMS has created this resource as a one-stop portal to the online content, virtual networking opportunities, and COVID-19 related updates offered by the Society to provide resources and support to our members during these difficult times.

TMS COVID-19 Materials Needs Exchange

COVID-19 is a biological challenge, but as with so many things, materials science and engineering can play a significant role in defeating it. Please visit this website to review and engage with opportunities to help our global community confront this pandemic. Please also consider submitting a resource or offering your expertise in solving one of the challenges.

TMS Meeting Updates

The strength of TMS is its ability to convene scientists and engineers across disciplines to learn, network, and exchange knowledge critical to the advancement of materials technologies. Throughout 2020, TMS is organizing or supporting an array of international technical meetings that enable this work. Travel restrictions and containment strategies to address COVID-19 are being adopted at all levels and are, out of necessity, frequently unspecific as to when they will end. Within this context, we are reviewing each event’s unique situation and working closely with our volunteer meeting organizers to be assured that we can deliver the kind of essential experience to which the materials community has become accustomed, although date postponements may be necessary. Check the TMS Meetings Calendar regularly for schedule updates and review the guiding principles outlined in a March 2020 letter to the membership that we are following as we make these decisions.
