Scope: This special topic aims to cover recent advances in the development of solid-state coatings and their applications related to the surface engineering of materials. Solid-state deposition provides unique microstructures and offers significant improvement in properties. Areas of interest include but are not limited to cold spray deposition, additive friction stir deposition, and other solid-state deposition techniques that are specifically applied on surfaces to improve the corrosion and wear properties of materials.

To ensure sufficient time for peer review, papers will not be accepted after the posted manuscript submission deadline. Original research papers should be 3,000-9,000 words with up to 12 figures maximum; review papers should be 6,000-11,000 words with up to 20 figures maximum.
