Scope: Advanced High Strength Steels (AHSSs) are increasingly used in the automotive industry to fabricate more lightweight yet robust car parts. These AHSSs exhibit excellent mechanical properties due to their peculiar microstructures. This special topic provides an overview of the microstructural and mechanical characterization of the most recent AHSSs for the automotive industry and future developments. Theoretical, experimental and simulation studies are welcome, in addition to coverage of characterizations after welding, thermal and mechanical treatments, and manufacturing processes.
