Publication Date: January 2020
Keywords: Characterization, energy, mechanical properties, nuclear materials, radiation effects
Scope: Irradiation by high-energy particles (e.g., neutrons and ions), can cause significant damage to materials in such forms as voids and dislocation loops, resulting in important dimensional and mechanical property changes. This special topic focuses on the characterization and testing of radiation-affected materials through scanning and transmission electron microscopy, atom probe tomography, micro-mechanical testing, x-ray diffraction, etc. Modeling and simulation of fundamental radiation damage phenomena aiding deeper understanding of these processes are also included in the scope.
