SCHARF WESTFALIA GmbH & COMPANY

Booth #341      Lunen, Germany

The Scharf Westfalia GmbH & Company KG (SWS) was established in 1972, emerged from the former Gewerkschaft Eisenhütte Westfalia, later Westfalia Becorit, presently fully owned by Deutsch Bergbau - Technik GmbH & Co KG (DBT), which is a 100 % daughter company of Ruhr Kohle AG (RAG). The company is located in the cities of Lünen, head office (North Rhine Westphalia) and Üelzen (Lower Saxony)

Scharf Westfalia designs, develops, manufactures, and supplies turn key plants and systems as well as components for the Aluminium Industry. The Aluminium Division is responsible, amongst others, for state-of-the-art turn key anode rodding shops, anode handling and storage, as well as butt and bath treatment plants for the aluminium industry. We are considered to be the world leader in the design, engineering and supply of such plants.

Three of our most recent plants have been sucessfully started up in Bahrain (ALBA) and Canada (Alouette) in Autumn 1992 as well in South Africa (Alusaf Bayside) in Autumn 1995. All three were handled as a turn-key project. Alba and Alouette were using the Pechiney AP-30 technology, incorporating the revolutionary casting caroussel, and Alusaf the 165 kA technology of VAW.

The knowledge our experts have at their fingertips is reflected by their handling of international projects. As an international dynamic mechanical engineering company, Scharf Westfalia offers a professional know-how and a progressive technology for the solution of challenging problems.
