During the week of February 28-March 4, 1999, the 128th Annual Meeting & Exhibition of The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS) will be held in San Diego, California at the San Diego Convention Center.

On February 28, 1999, attendees of the 1999 TMS Annual Meeting & Exhibition are invited to participate in the Second Annual TMS Foundation Golf Classic at Torrey Pines Municipal Golf Course. The tournament is being sponsored by the TMS Foundation.

Torrey Pines is an annual stop on the PGA Tour and home to the Buick Invitational Tournament, which will be held February 11-14, 1999, just two weeks before the TMS Foundation Golf Classic. In fact, we will be playing the South course, which will be featured on the televised portion of the tournament, so we are sure that the course will be in great shape. The course is truly a "golfer's paradise" and long recognized as one of the nation's foremost municipal golf facilities. Torrey Pines features a number of holes bordering the ocean creating a breathtaking view from some parts of the course. The South course is a tough test of golf and requires, primarily, length off the tee.

Tournament play will be a scramble format with teams of foursomes. We will get under way with a shotgun start at 7:00 a.m. There will be prizes for Longest Drive, both men's and ladies', and Closest-to-the-Pin contests, as well as a random drawing for door prizes. A Hole-in-One Contest with a grand prize of $10,000 is also planned.

The registration deadline is December 31, 1998, however, the field is limited to 144 players. Please submit the on-line registration form below to enter. Cancellations must be received in writing prior to January 15, 1999. No refunds will be issued after January 15, 1999. A $30 processing fee will be charged on all cancellations. Each registrant will receive a charitable gift receipt for $50. All fees include bus transportation to and from the course, green fees, carts, continental breakfast, refreshments, and a post- tournament awards luncheon at the Sheraton Grand Torrey Pines. All of the proceeds from this event benefit the TMS Foundation.
