Materials Processing & Manufacturing Division (MPMD) Scholarship

Available to full-time undergraduate students in their sophomore or junior years, who are majoring in metallurgical and/or materials science and engineering with an emphasis on manufacturing from product design to production, integrating process control technology into manufacturing, and basic and applied research into key materials technologies that impact manufacturing processes.

Structural Materials Division (SMD) Scholarship

Available to full-time undergraduate applicants in their sophomore or junior years, who are majoring in metallurgical and/or materials science and engineering with an emphasis on the science and engineering of load-bearing materials, including studies into the nature of a material’s physical properties based upon its microstructure and operating environment.

*These awards are eligible for the Battelle Student Scholarship Program.

About the Battelle Student Scholarship Program

Thanks to the generous support of Battelle and its chief executive officer and president, Jeffrey Wadsworth, the TMS Division Scholarships described above are doubled in value to the student recipients, while also opening doors to educational advancement. Each undergraduate division scholarship is matched, dollar for dollar, through the Battelle Matching Scholarship Program. Additionally, every student who receives a Battelle Matching Scholarship will also receive a Battelle Materials Graduate Student Award when the student matriculates to graduate school to continue studies in a materials–related field.

Additional Scholarship Opportunities

WAAIME Scholarships

Through TMS, undergraduate and graduate Material Advantage student members are eligible to apply for scholarships funded by WAAIME, a division of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration. The WAAIME Scholarship fund provides scholarships to students pursuing earth science degrees including mining, geological sciences, metallurgy, petroleum, mineral sciences, materials science and engineering, mineral economics, chemical engineering, and other related studies. The number and amount of scholarships awarded yearly are dictated by the funds available and by the financial needs of the applicants.
