Publication Date: August 2025
Keywords: Additive Manufacturing, Extraction and Processing, Manufacturing and Markets, Process Mineralogy, Recycling and Secondary Recovery
Scope: This special topic seeks to elucidate innovative approaches toward streamlining unit operations, increasing feedstock flexibility, valorizing byproducts, and reducing waste in the production of materials. Manuscripts focusing on process intensification or coproduction of materials in the fields of mining, extractive metallurgy, chemical metallurgy, pyrometallurgy, additive manufacturing, and concrete will be considered in scope. Articles leveraging state of the art thermodynamic, kinetic, mass transport, thermophysical, and experimental frameworks to design and demonstrate related production approaches are encouraged. Studies addressing scale-up and piloting of novel unit operations, reactor designs, and pathways for process intensification or coproduction of materials are especially welcome.
