In 2014, I received the AIME Henry deWitt Smith Scholarship that help offset educational expenses and allowed me to travel to San Diego for the TMS 2014 Annual Meeting. I have spent my career supporting students who seek to earn an engineering degree, with particular emphasis on students who are underrepresented. This type of work often goes unsupported and unrecognized in the academic promotion and tenure process, often resulting in personal sacrifice by those who choose to devote their efforts.
