Accessibility Statement

Our Commitment

The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, including those with visual, hearing, cognitive, and motor impairments.

We are continually improving the user experience and applying the relevant accessibility standards to enhance www.tms.org and other websites maintained by TMS.

Conformance Status & Goals

We are working towards conforming to the principles and guidelines of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These standards outline four main principles that websites should be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust.

Measures Taken

TMS is taking the following steps to improve and maintain the accessibility of our website:
  • Integration: We aim to incorporate accessibility considerations throughout our website design, development, and content creation processes.
  • Design: We consider accessible design principles, including adequate color contrast, logical navigation structures, and readable fonts.
  • Alternative Text: We work to provide appropriate alternative text for images and other non-text content where it adds meaning or context.
  • Keyboard Navigation: We strive to ensure that website functionality is navigable using a keyboard.
  • Technology: We aim for compatibility with current versions of major web browsers and commonly used assistive technologies.
  • Ongoing Review: We recognize that accessibility is an ongoing effort and plan periodic reviews and testing of our website to identify and address potential barriers.

Current Status & Limitations

While TMS strives to adhere to the accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility and usability, this remains a work in progress – not all active areas of our website may meet the WCAG 2.1 AA standards yet.

Further, certain areas of our website may not be capable of meeting with WCAG 2.1 AA standards. This includes i) pages that are archived or no longer maintained as of June 28, 2025 and ii) specific web functions or third-party integrations that are incompatible with accessibility features.
