August 24-28, 2015 • Louisville, Kentucky, USA

Online registration is now closed. If you are interested in attending please e-mail MaryTherese Gallagher, TMS Event Specialist, or call at (724) 776–9000, ext. 213.
Leading experts in additive manufacturing will provide an overview of the methods for simulating additive manufacturing technologies and their benefits and drawbacks in this course sponsored by the TMS Materials Processing and Manufacturing Division and the TMS Structural Materials Division.
WHO ATTENDS?
The course is directed toward simulation scientists, graduate students who are considering simulation of additive manufacturing (AM) processes as a career option, and scientists/engineers who need to make decisions about the appropriate types of simulation tools to use at their companies. Individuals from corporations which produce AM equipment, raw materials for AM machines, and design software and/or who use AM technology would also benefit from this course.
TECHNICAL SCOPE
The course will provide an overview of methods for simulating additive manufacturing technologies and their benefits and drawbacks. The technical scope of the course will cover the need for using finite media-based numerical methodologies. The advantage of these methods compared to infinite media-based analytical solutions will be discussed and the benefits of these approaches over traditional experiments will be explored.
