Scope: While research continues on the fundamental aspects of AM, it is the ability to produce repeatable properties and microstructures that is required to incorporate AM as a primary manufacturing process. Thus, the common industrial use of AM needs to focus on methods to provide designers with guidelines for process and component utilization. By combining the aspects of process development with required properties, investigations into manufacturability and process robustness will provide guidelines for materials design.
