Publication Date: March 2024
Keywords: Additive Manufacturing, Powder Metallurgy, Functional Materials, Materials Processing and Characterization
Scope: Current demands for functional materials have led to the need for powder synthesis, processing, consolidation, and characterization of said materials for the use in extreme environments. This special topic welcomes papers exploring the response of powder materials to extreme environments (mechanical, thermal, chemical, radiation, magnetic and electric fields, etc.). Research areas include (i) novel powder processing of functional materials; (ii) recent advances in powder consolidation processes, e.g., spark plasma sintering, powder forging and extrusion, cold spray forming, and additive manufacturing; (iii) novel process development, robustness, and monitoring; and (iv) modeling and simulation of these and related topics.
