http://www.nh-hotels.com/events/en/event-detail/17621/imdea_materiales.html.

The conference provides shuttle services to and from the hotels (NH Nacional, NH Sur, NH Getafe) to IMDEA Materials Institute. The travel time is approximately 30-40 minutes. It is highly recommended that all participants use this shuttle service, as it is the most convenient way to get to the venue.

CONFERENCE LOCATION

The conference will be held at IMDEA Materials Institute, which is located in TecnoGetafe, a technological park in Getafe, a satellite city along the south outskirts of Madrid. The Institute contains an auditorium with a capacity for 150 people, open areas for poster sessions, coffee breaks and a cafeteria for lunch, in addition to a variety of meeting rooms.

Madrid

It was King Felipe II who made Madrid the capital of his Empire when he chose it as the location for his court in 1561. The capital of an empire upon which the sun never set, and Madrid has continued to gather and maintain, throughout the centuries, the history and art of all the people who have visited it. The result is a cultural legacy, without which it would be impossible to fully understand the history of Europe. Madrid boasts one of the largest and most efficient public transport systems in the world and there are direct flights from most of the main cities in the world.

Obtain a Travel Visa

Meeting attendees from countries that require a visa to enter into Spain are reminded that the process of obtaining a visa takes a minimum of three months. You are strongly encouraged to plan ahead and begin the application process early. If you need an invitation letter or more information contact: Mariana Huerta at mariana.huerta@imdea.org.

FOR ATTENDEES OF THE "NANOMECHANICAL TESTING IN MATERIALS RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT IV" CONGRESS

Here you can find some help to start planning your trip from Madrid (Spain) to Olhão (Portugal) to attend the "NANOMECHANICAL TESTING IN MATERIALS RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT IV" Congress.

The most convenient transporation options are:

  1. By plane: although there are no direct flights from Madrid to Faro, you can find convenient combinations with a transfer in Lisbon.
  2. By ground transportation: you can take the fast train from Madrid to Seville (Aprox. trip duration: 2h 30 min) and then a bus from Seville to Olhão (Aprox. trip duration: 3h 20min). If you choose this option, you can find information on timetables/fares and make your bookings at:
    - FAST TRAIN to Seville (http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/horarios.html)
    - BUS to Olhão (http://www.eva-bus.com/novo/)
We have checked on other options and found that they are not convenient. Car rentals charges are very expensive if the car is returned in a different country.

Do not hesitate to contact us for further assistance.
