This symposium covers all aspects of the physical and mechanical metallurgy of aluminum alloys. It addresses fundamental and applied research as well as product development, testing and implementation of aluminum foil, sheet, plate, extrusions, forgings, and composites for end applications including transportation, packaging, and other key product segments.
This symposium covers all processing methods applied to solid aluminum as well as the resulting process-specific product properties. Focus is on the main processing routes in the aluminum industry, including hot- and cold rolling, strip casting, extrusion, forging, and drawing.

This symposium will address the issues, intricacies, and challenges relating to energy and environmental sciences. It will cover various technological aspects of sustainable energy eco-systems and processes that improve energy efficiency, and reduce and sequestrate carbon dioxide and other greenhouse emissions.

Hume-Rothery Award Symposium: Thermodynamics and Kinetics of Engineering Materials
This symposium will assess the current state of the art in the thermodynamics and kinetics of engineering materials by bringing together computational and experimental researchers. It will be held in honor of the 2014 Hume-Rothery award recipient, Rainer Schmid-Fetzer, for his seminal contributions to alloy thermodynamics and phase diagrams, both computationally and experimentally.
ICME: Linking Microstructure to Structural Design Requirements

Multiscale Perspectives on Plasticity in HCP Metals
This symposium will focus on the structure-property relationships unique to hexagonal close-packed (HCP) materials. The necessary interplay between experiments and modeling/simulation to understand the plasticity mechanisms and to develop accurate predictive models will be explored. Special emphasis will be placed on works that connect experimental observations with modeling of mechanical behavior across various length scales.
Nanoparticulate Materials: Production, Consolidation and Characterization
This symposium is dedicated to the science and technology of producing, processing, consolidating, and characterizing particulate materials with structural components of the order of 100nm or less. It will cover both a broad range of conventional and novel nanoparticle production techniques and a wide spectrum of methods for the consolidation of bulk nanostructured materials.
Pb-Free Solders and Emerging Interconnect and Packaging Materials
This symposium covers research advances in electronic interconnecting materials and their technologies, with special emphasis on lead-free solders and new materials and structures for next-generation interconnects. Solar Cell Silicon
This symposium will focus on silicon feedstock production, silicon refining and behavior of impurities, advanced silicon separation and all types of wafering techniques, recycling of silicon, solar cells and electronic components, and characterization of silicon materials for solar cells.
Solidification in Additive Manufacturing
This symposium will look at the role of solidification on the structure, properties, and synthesis rate of components fabricated from metal and alloy powders by additive manufacturing.
