Steels Committee

The Steels Committee is part of the Structural Materials Division.

Our Mission: The mission of the TMS Structural Materials Division's Steels committee is to provide a home for TMS members with interest in steel process and physical metallurgy by providing programming that focuses on fundamental steel research, including alloy development; mechanical and thermal processing; phases, microstructure and properties; and all fundamental underpinnings supporting the advancement and sustainability of steel applications, including decarbonization of steel manufacturing processes. This mission is accomplished by: (1) organizing steels-related programming at the TMS annual meeting and MS&T as a primary sponsor or co-sponsor with other TMS or collaborator society committees, (2) organizing stand-alone conferences, (3) organizing special issues of JOM, the member journal of TMS, (4) nominating committee members for TMS awards, (5) supporting other steel-related TMS activities (e.g., Bladesmithing competition or similar), and (6) upholding the strategic goals of TMS Aspires.
