Emerging MaterialsTMS 2009: Emerging Materials Program
February 15-19, 2009 • San Francisco, California

The field of materials science and engineering is constantly expanding to encompass new technologies, and TMS fosters the development of these areas with forums at the annual meeting.

This year’s program will include coverage of biological materials, bulk metallic glasses and materials for high-temperature applications. In addition, a new frontier for materials — transformation under extreme conditions — will be examined.

PLANNED SYMPOSIA

The Emerging Materials 2009 program will include the following symposia:

  • Biological Materials Science Symposium
This symposium will emphasize the primacy of biological materials to the development of biomaterials and biomimetic materials. [MORE]
  • Bulk Metallic Glasses VI
Learn about the fundamentals and theoretical modeling of processing and mechanical behavior of bulk metallic glasses. [MORE]
  • Materials for High-Temperature Applications: Next Generation Superalloys and Beyond
Hear presentations about recent advancements in materials systems intended to replace conventional superalloys systems in next generation high-temperature applications. [MORE]
  • Transformations under Extreme Conditions: A New Frontier in Materials
This symposium will examine advances made in phase transformations under extreme loading conditions, especially those involving shockwaves and irradiation. [MORE]
