MEET A MENTOR
DateMonday, February, 15, 2016
Time 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Sponsored ByThe ad hoc TMS Professional Development Committee

Building relationships between early-career and established professionals in the minerals, metals, and materials communities

The Meet-a-Mentor event at TMS2016 will provide an opportunity for professionals with established experience in their field (mentors) to engage in face-to-face, scheduled meetings with early-career professionals (mentees).

Whether you want to discuss technical issues, career and professional development concerns, or how to get more involved in TMS, this event will give you the opportunity to make new connections and expand your network.

Please note: This event is designed for professional attendees and graduating students ready to enter the workforce. It is not a student event.

New for 2016
If you have participated in TMS Mentorship events in the past, please note that the format for this year’s event will be a bit different, with more uninterrupted time for interaction with mentors and a less structured setting. (This will not be a speed networking event.)

How the Event Will Work
Each mentor and mentee will receive a schedule of individuals to meet. You will get a chance to learn a bit about each other and assess the potential fit for a mentoring relationship. Be sure to bring your business cards and maybe a pen and paper for taking notes. We respectfully request no solicitation of products or services during these sessions.

How to Participate
This event is free, but advance registration is required, and participants must complete a brief registration form.

Registration for this event is now closed.

For Mentors

To be a mentor, you should have established experience in your field of expertise and an eagerness to provide young professionals with ongoing technical advice and to increase their knowledge of TMS. It’s an easy way to help cultivate the next generation of engineers and raise the standards for minerals, metals, and materials.

To participate in this event as a mentor, please fill out this brief Mentor Registration form. Your information will then be added to this website for mentees to review.

For Mentees

Young professionals and graduating students ready to enter the workforce are invited to view a listing of established TMS professional members who are volunteering to act as mentors for this event.

When you register to participate in the event, please select the three mentors (in order of preference) that you think would be the best match for you and your professional interests. We will do our best to match you up with one or more of your preferred mentors.

Select mentors and fill out a brief registration form.
