Our Mission: The committee will address a wide range of aspects of light elements technology, their production, and use across a variety of industries. In the present context, light elements generally refer to elements other than aluminum and magnesium, with density less than 3.5 gm per cubic centimeter. The committee’s charter will include research and manufacturing activities of lithium metal and its compounds (including in lithium ion batteries), hydrogen and its compounds, elemental carbon (in all its forms), boron, beryllium, and calcium. The committee will also address the physical/chemical properties of such light elements and their compounds and alloys, as well as related economic and market issues.
