Bethesda is a destination in the Greater Washington, D.C. area that is known for its unique shops and arts venues. The area is pedestrian-friendly. A 20-minute walk will take visitors from one end of the downtown to another. Bethesda is the number one dining destination for local residents. The lively downtown scene is home to nearly 200 restaurants that showcase diverse cuisine from around the world.
The free Bethesda Circulator shuttle bus service runs every 10 to 15 minutes and connects riders to various points downtown, including the Metro, shops, restaurants, and parking. The Circulator hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
There are 17 public parking garages and lots, visible with a blue "P" sign. Payment is requested Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Garage parking is $1.25 per hour at the Bethesda Avenue and Elm Street Garage, St. Elmo Avenue and Cordell Avenue Garage, and Waverly Street Garage. Surface lot parking is $1.50 per hour, and long-term garage parking is $1.00 per hour. Parking is free in public garages and lots on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Various private garages and valet parking are also options.

Meeting attendees from countries that require a visa to enter the United States are reminded that the process of obtaining a visa takes a minimum of three months. You are strongly encouraged to plan ahead and begin the application process early.
