Retired and Senior membership levels are designed for our most loyal members who may no longer be actively working in the minerals, metals, and materials fields, but who wish to remain engaged and connected with their professional community. These membership levels are reserved for members with 20 to 30+ years of membership in the Society.

Existing senior members can add a print subscription to the JOM publication of record (technical articles and JOM: The Magazine content) for $120 through the dues renewal form or by contacting TMS.

Am I Eligible for Retired Membership?

Retired membership is open to individuals who possess 20 years of continuous TMS membership, are 66 years of age or older, and who are fully retired from their career (including consulting). Any individual who meets these eligibility requirements is welcome to apply for this half-price membership.

Am I Eligible for Senior Membership?

Reflecting an achieved rank with the society, a senior member is a professional of vast experience both within the field and within TMS. Senior membership is open to individuals whose age and continuous years of TMS membership, when added together equal 100 or more, or retired professionals age 65 (or older) with 30+ years of continuous membership in TMS. Senior members are determined by the Society and are notified when they reach senior member status. Senior members are not required to pay dues.

Do Senior Members Receive Print Subscriptions to JOM?

Senior members receive complimentary print subscriptions to JOM: The Magazine (news and feature articles) and complimentary electronic subscriptions to JOM technical articles. If a senior member wishes to receive the complete JOM Publication of Record in print format (technical articles and JOM: The Magazine content) by mail, they may purchase a subscription for $120 through the online TMS membership renewal form or by contacting a TMS membership representative at or by phone at 1-724-776-9000, ext. 1.
