- Quote: TMS and Material Advantage have made an immense impact on my education and career path. I attended my first TMS Annual Meeting as a freshman. I loved learning about innovations and discoveries at the forefront of materials research and meeting fellow MSE students, professors, and industry professionals. That first experience cemented my love of materials science and ensured I would be a regular conference-goer. Since then, I have had the opportunity to present research posters, participate in the Undergraduate Speaking Contest, and enter the Materials Bowl Competition. I have also been involved in the Material Advantage chapter at Georgia Tech, where I am currently serving as Vice President. I enjoy getting other students involved in Material Advantage and showing them the benefits of a professional society. I plan to attend graduate school and obtain a Ph.D. in materials science with a focus in electronic materials. I am so thankful that TMS, Battelle, and the Functional Materials Division are investing in students like me.

- Quote: I became a Material Advantage member during my junior year in India. It helped me to attend four different conferences organized by TMS, ASM & AIST in the last two years, with partial travel grant (from India) and free conference registration for students. It was a fantastic experience and a great platform for me to meet professors and industry people who are pioneers in my field of research interest. For example, during the 2017 TMS Annual Meeting and Exhibition in San Diego, I met a couple of professors and able to discuss my research and I was able to get the Ph.D. admission. I graduated from PSG college of Technology in Spring 2017 and, currently, I am an early stage doctoral candidate at the University of Tennessee.

- Quote: Receiving this award in an honor and I benefit from it in many ways. In retrospect, I benefit from the learning experience of preparing the paper for the competition. This provided a different perspective than writing an assigned research paper for a class. As I am currently applying for fellowships and Ph.D. programs, I am able to show the schools that I have background and ability in conducting research and writing scientific papers by mentioning this award. It will definitely enhance my applications. I look forward to attending the technical program symposia and making connections with TMS members at the annual meeting. I am grateful to the TMS Foundation for supporting my career development.

The research I was privileged to take part in with Professor Gary Olson was where my classroom education was applied, solidified, and confirmed. The TMS award is for me the first event in my undergraduate study that signals my achievement in the field of materials science and engineering. Thank you TMS and Professor Olson for gracing me with such an opportunity."
