Scope: Replacing fossil fuels with clean, efficient, and renewable energy is a future trend worldwide. It is generally believed that renewables still have a long way to go to replace oil, coal, and natural gas as primary sources of energy. Currently, there are several obstacles in performance, cost, and safety that limit the broad applications of the renewable energies. Energy materials play a critical role in solving these problems and meeting our future needs. This topic will include R&D of various types of materials for energy applications, particularly in the fields of fuel cells, batteries, supercapacitors, solar fuels, hydrogen generation and storage.
