Scope: Additive manufacturing is finding greater use for processing medical devices with patient-specific shapes. In addition, medical devices can be prepared with porous surfaces and other geometrical features to promote better tissue integration. A type of additive manufacturing, known as bioprinting, involves additive manufacturing of biological materials such as drugs, cells, and growth factors. This special issue considers the use of additive manufacturing and bioprinting to create new microstructured and nanostructured materials for medical applications.
