EPD Distinguished Lecturer Award

This award recognizes an outstanding scientific leader in the field of nonferrous extraction and processing metallurgy by inviting him/her to present a comprehensive lecture at the Society's Annual Meeting.

Recipient will be invited to submit their lecture to Metallurgical and Materials Transactions B.

Recipients of this award may be eligible for Institute of Metals/Robert Franklin Mehl Award and TMS/ASM Joint Distinguished Lectureship In Materials & Society Award.

The recipient of the EPD Distinguished Lecturer Award will receive an award piece and is eligible for a $500 travel reimbursement to travel to the TMS Annual Meeting. Award recipients must travel to and attend the conference in order to receive the travel funds associated with this award.

Criteria

The recipient must be available to present a lecture on a technical subject of particular interest to the extraction and processing metallurgy members of the Society at the Annual Meeting approximately two years following selection for the award.

How to Nominate

Submission Deadline:
April 1 of each year.

Please submit the following documents to complete the nomination process:

  1. Completed nomination form.
  2. Nominator's Supporting Statement: This statement is to be included within the principal nominator’s testimonial of endorsement. The testimonial should outline the qualifications of the nominee for the specific honor/award. The nominator’s testimonial should be no more than two pages.
  3. Current resume or curriculum vitae, no more than 5 pages.
  4. Two to five testimonials are required. Each testimonial should be a maximum of 150 words. Include the testimonial person's name, affiliation, position, and date the testimonial was received. Testimonials should relate to the nominee's achievements and their service to the profession. No more than one testimonial may be from the same affiliation as the nominee. The nominator’s letter may be counted in the required total.
