Traditional metal casting and forging processes for large components have caused many well-known issues in the market including limitations in materials, a lack of part integrity, long lead-times, and supply shortages. A proven, robotically controlled welding process technology for wire-based additive manufacturing provides a solution to address these challenges, in a host of applications.

Groundbreaking work is being conducted to enhance the process and develop new material systems, opening up entirely new application areas, leveraging unique design, material, and post-processing flexibilities which are not available with traditional castings or forgings. The result is a class of next-generation products which have proven to eliminate expensive tooling, integrate the functionality of multiple materials into a single part, and enable entirely new part geometries.

In this webinar, experts will explore a Wire-arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) approach developed by Lincoln Electric. The Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence at The Ohio State University has also contributed several key product and process innovations for critical applications in a wide range of industries.

What You Will Experience

  • Proven case studies that illustrate robotically controlled welding process technology
  • Key benefits of the technology, including increased product performance and quality, enhanced design efficiency, and accelerated delivery of solutions
  • An opportunity to provide feedback about the technology and related innovations
