The Diversity Committee is part of the TMS Administrative Board committees.
Our Mission: The Diversity Committee is a subcommittee of the Membership and Student Development Committee. The TMS Diversity Committee will seek to advance TMS's commitment to diversity and inclusion by developing TMS programs, initiatives, and activities that address the professional needs and aspirations of underrepresented persons actively pursuing a career in materials science and engineering. They will also seek to promote materials engineering as an attractive career choice and opportunity for those in underrepresented groups and promote TMS as their professional society home.
The TMS Diversity Committee will advise the Membership & Student Development Committee in the establishment of strategic objectives related to increasing underrepresented minority participation in the Society. The group will: actively explore ways that the Society can encourage diverse groups of materials scientists and engineers to take an active interest in Society activities; serve as a forum for the discussion of specific issues facing diversity in science and engineering; promote the recognition of underrepresented minority scientists and engineers; provide a means for increasing the participation of diverse groups in the materials sciences, engineering, and the Society through sponsorship of events and activities.
